Affiliate Site Builder - Part Two
General Marketing - Affiliate Marketing
We've got our hosting sorted and a domain name residing on our hosting space that has nothing on it.The next step is to find the fantastico tools in the control panel and install joomla. Make a note of any settings you may need to refer back to in your "affiliatespreadsheet.xcl"
Important note:
Whilst the fantastico tool enables you to install in seconds scripts and software that the normal coder challenged person (that means you!) would take days to figure out you must also respect the way it works to use it properly.
When fantastico installs a script like joomla in your webspace then it also installs a text file which tells the admin function of fantastico what packages it has installed. It also serves as a database reference point for all installed packages.
If you get to change your mind about what you want to install then you need to use the fantastico installer to remove the package you installed. If you simply use ftp to delete everything then fantastico will still think an installation is present and you won't be able to use the fantastico installer again until you delete and recreate the domain.
Once you have installed the joomla package you now need to head on over to Joomla.org and make sure the version you have installed is the same as the latest version. If not you need to get the update files from the joomla website and bring your installation up to date using FTP.
Now head on over to rockettheme.co.uk and get yourself a nice template. There are plenty to choose from and it will save you days of trying to figure out how to make your site look good.
All done.
Now we have our hosting and a site installed with a nice template.
Now we just have to add our content! This is where the real work starts.
